A Gastric Balloon is a short-term, temporary option for weight loss. The procedure involves inserting an inflatable silicone balloon into your stomach. This is done by placing a flexible telescope (endoscope) into the back of your throat and inserting the deflated balloon into your stomach.

The balloon is inflated using saline making you feel full sooner, so that you eat less. The balloon stays in place for 6 months and is then removed by endoscopy.

Weight loss may vary from person to person, and you may lose your excess weight at a rate of around 0.5kg to 1kg weekly.

Recovery is usually faster than surgical alternatives. Please note that this is not a permanent weight loss procedure.
